When clients arrive to Padang our land crew takes them to a hotel in town with all comforts to rest till the boat leaves. The boat departs from Padang to Mentawai at night depending on tides and arrives to the first wave break early morning.

Then for the next days the boat just goes around the islands to find the best conditions and guests can surf as much as they want in every spot. During the night time, the boat stays in quiet locations for sleeping. During all these days, guests can surf, fish, snorkel, visit the islands and rest.

We come back to Padang during last night of the trip so we arrive to the port early morning. Guests can stay onboard until the land crew takes them to the airport for their flights.

Location and the waves

The Mentawai islands are situated west of Sumatra. The archipelago has four main islands called Siberut, Sipura, Pagai Utara y Pagai Selatan. In each one you can surf in more than a dozen different waves.

The weather conditions for surfing in Mentawai are unique, and thanks to the vast amount of coral reefs that form perfect waves, this place is magical.

Mentawai Islands are surfable all year round, but the best conditions are between April and October due to the consistency and size of the waves. During these months one or two swells are guaranteed, nevertheless you can be assured of perfect surfing during the other months.

Our great experience in these islands and the easy access to updated weather forecast permits us to take you to the right place at the right time. We are in contact with the other boats operating in other waves to avoid crowds.

There is no fixed route. This varies depending on the weather conditions and the level of the surfers. What we are really sure of is the waves will be beyond your imagination.

There are a multitude of different waves that can suit any surfer and his style: surf, bodyboard, longboard, kite surf etc… Guests decide the spot to surf, and they also count on the information the guides tell them about the best options for the day. Their vast experience will permit surfing high quality waves and being in the right places at right time.
